UP Health Services

Student Health Services provide basic medical services to all registered students at UP. The services are run by fully qualified and registered healthcare professionals and are offered on all UP campuses. This includes the fully accredited Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) Clinic for HIV and AIDS that, in collaboration with the University’s Centre for the Study of AIDS, offers free testing and counselling to students.

Good nutrition involves avoiding certain kinds of foods, such as salt and fat intake. Students are therefore encouraged to watch what they eat and drink as these will have a great impact on their health.

A healthy diet throughout life promotes normal growth and development. It helps to maintain a healthy body weight as this reduces the risk of developing chronic diseases.

There is a myth that only the old aged people can develop chronic diseases. Youth are also at risk of developing chronic diseases due to poor diet. Students are encouraged to adopt healthy eating habits. Healthy eating habits can also increase your energy levels, improve your wellness, well-being and help you recover from illness or injury.
